New Arc Social
Connections Group for Children
Utica, NY- The
Arc’s Children’s Services division has a new social skills building
group
called Social Connections. The program is designed for children
who have Autism
Spectrum Disorders.
The Social Connections group helps to develop the
necessary skills and understanding to promote individual social and
emotional growth. Each week, the children in different age groups will
be involved in play based social skills building groups. This will
provide skills essential for their social development.
There are two programs designed for children in
different age groups. Children 5-8 years of age will meet on Tuesdays
from 4-6 p.m. and children 9-12 years of age will meet on Thursdays from
4-6 p.m. Each program is facilitated by a Special Education teacher, an
Occupational and Speech Therapist and an assistant. Both Programs will
run for a six week course. The program is located at the Arc’s Therapy
and Play Center, 241 Genesee Street, Utica. For more information call
Lisa Cushman, Children’s Programs Coordinator, 315-272-1588.
