The Arc’s Employment
Services provides Job Placement Services to the local business community
and to individual with disabilities, matching employer needs with
employee skills and abilities.
Employment Services places
individuals into integrated community-based work, where they earn at
least minimum wage, working fifteen to forty hours per week.
Employment Services include the
use of a Rehabilitation Training Specialist, or job coach. The RTS screens
available jobs, then matches the individual’s abilities to the job
requirements. Once a match is made, the RTS provides intensive training on
the job site. After the training is completed, the Senior Job Coaches follow
up with support services for as long as the individual is employed, to
insure that job performance continues to meet the employer’s expectations.
The Arc’s Employment
Services began in 1986 and is now well-developed and very successful in
providing to persons with disabilities, an array of supports to link them to
the working world.
