Central School receives Regional Partnership Award from NYSRA
Utica, NY— Sauquoit Valley Central School/BOCES Special Education
Program in partnership with The Arc recently received the annual Regional
Partnership with Schools Recognition Award from New York State
Rehabilitation Association (NYSRA). The Arc nominated Sauquoit for this
award. “Sauquoit has taken a leadership role and has set a standard for
excellence in their attempts to reach out and meet the educational,
vocational, emotional and social needs of their students with
disabilities,” said Joanne Donaruma, director of employment services at
The Arc.
Sauquoit along with Special Education teacher Theresa Finnegan and her
staff understand the importance of developing a collaborative relationship
with the adult service providers to better equip students with
disabilities with the tools necessary to transition seamlessly from school
to work.

Laurel Hartman, Arc
School-to-Work coordinator presents the NYSRA award to John Kolczynski,
principal of Sauquoit Valley Central School, Alaine Hartnett, assistant
principal of Sauquoit and Theresa Finnegan, special education teacher at
Sauquoit.
