Entry Level Positions
Bakery Cafe Manager

You will be responsible for overseeing the entire business operation of the facility Chef’s Express. You will be working directly and supervising individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Schedule is flexible to meet shops needs

Responsibilities:

  • Be hands on and involved in every aspect to make the customer happy
  • Ensure that fresh made cupcakes, bakery items, and specialty food items will be made daily and available to customers when the business is open and also by special order.
  • Ensure all the training and development in the facility is completed according to food quality standards and everyone learns all aspects of the business operation

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and 1 - 3 years experience in bakery, food service, or restaurant operations
  • Familiarity with NYS Department of Health regulations.

Valid NYS Drivers license and must have a working vehicle and agree to transport individuals, as needed to work-sites.

CW Resident Assistant

You will be accountable for the health and safety of the individuals in the supported apartments (Dorm Rooms) and for maintaining the physical and social operation of the supported apartments.

Evening schedule 3pm to 10pm ; varying days & weekends

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the individuals by providing oversight, guidance and training in the completion of daily living tasks.
  • Assist in household tasks such as laundry and housecleaning.
  • Assist in menu planning, preparation and cooking, ensuring that the individual’s dietary and nutritional needs are followed. Shopping with the goal of increasing independence.
  • Medical and dental appointments with oversight by the IRA RN. Includes completing health care records, act as liaison with medical professional and administer medications as required.
  • Assist with Financial management, budgeting, banking and shopping.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. One year documented experience working with people with disabilities. ( work as a college RA beneficial)

Day Habilitation Specialist I

You will provide assistance and supervision of the individual’s day-to-day activities, socialization, recreation and daily living skills development to improve the individual's quality of life.

Schedule is Monday-Friday 8:30 - 4PM

Responsibilities:

  • Day to day implementation of assigned person we support’s Individualized Service Plan ( ISP/Day Habilitation Plan) utilizing as many appropriate resources as possible in the community
  • Ensuring supervision of assigned persons at all times
  • Promote and follow person driven choices in independence, individualization, inclusion, and productivity
  • Develop and maintain a positive relationship with the person we support, working with the person and other team members to help determine and achieve valued outcomes for the individuals

Employment Mentor – North

You will be responsible for assisting the people being supported via Site Based Pre-Voc through the implementation of their individualized programmatic valued outcomes.

Schedule is Monday-Friday 35 hours/week

Responsibilities:

·     Acts as the first line instructor as to how to perform tasks, assisting only as needed.

·     Maintains equipment and supplies inventory within the work area for the people we support.

·     May need to assist with loading and unloading trucks by hand or forklift.

·     Implement pre-vocational staff action plan as written and document on that implementation contemporaneously manner using the electronic health record, in accordance with department policy.

·     Is responsible to perform all program documentation activities in accordance with quality assurance and Medicaid requirements in the electronic health record.

Qualifications:

·     High school diploma and three years’ experience in industry.

·     Valid NYS Driver’s license.

Habilitation Specialist II

You will provide individuals with developmental disabilities with training and supervision to the extent required by their Individual Services Plan (ISP).

Schedule is flexible to fit individuals according to their needs; Daytime, Evenings & Weekends may be expected

One on One ratio! Flexibility to work with different individuals with different needs.​

Responsibilities:

  • Provide necessary therapeutic assistance and training to individuals, living in a variety of settings, determined by their Habilitation Plan.
  • Ensure the implementation of the individual’s Habilitation Plan utilizing as many appropriate resources as possible in their community.
  • Possess the ability to work effectively at various sites.

Experience:

Hospital Sitters

Remains with the patient to provide observation and support while they are in patient in a hospital setting.

Per Diem; On Call Schedule 

Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct supervision and frequent safety checks on patients identified as high risk for safety issues
  • Read Hospital Daily Communication Notes and available information regarding the patient's identified care needs, diagnosis, visual, auditory, or language barriers, as well as any special consideration
  • Accompany the patient to other areas of the hospital for diagnostic tests or upon transfer to another unit, as allowed by the Health Care Facilities

Residence Counselor

You will provide management of the day-to-day operations of the residences and supervision of the individual’s day-to-day activities, socialization, recreation and daily living skills development.

Full Time & Part Time; Flexible schedules to include split shifts, nights & weekends.

Residence Counselor Awake-Overnight

You will provide management of the night operations of the residences and supervision of the individual during night period. Light house keeping duties apply.

Full Time & Part Time; Variable days 10pm-7am.

  • Ensuring supervision of assigned persons at all times

Residence Manager

You will provide management of the day-to-day operations of the residences; supervision of the individuals day-to-day activities, socialization, recreation and daily living skills development.

Variable schedule, typically sleeping overnights required

Responsibilities:

  • Assure the maintenance, housekeeping and food preparation duties of the residence in order to provide a clean, neat, healthy and safe environment. Provide oversight and guidance if necessary to the individuals in the completion of household tasks such as laundry, menu preparation, shopping, cooking, minor maintenance of the house and grounds with the goal of increasing independence.
  • Know the current Individualized Service Plan specific to each individual and follow through with the provision of services as outlined.
  • Review the Daily Notes and House Log since their last shift. Complete or review incident reports and forward to the Program Manager within prescribed time frames. Assure that medication verification is completed per policy during their shift. Follow fiscal accountability procedures and maintain accurate financial records for each individual.

Qualifications:

  • 6 Months of documented direct support work
Respite Specialist

You will be providing respite (relief) for family members of individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. This is the program that does Stage-works, Special Olympics Bowling, Adult Camp and takes people to the movies, shopping, shows, sporting events in the community on a nightly basis. Respite service may take place in the community or at a site-based program.

Part Time & Full Time available: Monday-Friday 2:15 to 10pm

Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of the plans and activities provided by the supervisor of the assigned program.
  • Ensuring supervision of assigned persons at all times
  • Becoming familiar with the individuals’ safeguards and provide any change of information and/or concerns to the program’s coordinator.
  • Develop and maintain a positive relationship with the person we support, working with the person and other team members to help determine and achieve valued outcomes for the individuals

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities a plus - but not required
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Willingness to travel to offsite locations in Oneida-Lewis Counties

Sr Payroll Clerk

You will be responsible for assisting in the processing of agency payroll.  Performs daily clerical duties related to the payroll function.  This work requires a general understanding of regulations, office rules, policies and procedures. Generally a prescribed routine is followed.

Schedule is Monday-Friday 35 hours/week

Responsibilities:

·     Is responsible for the timely collection of all Time Sheets and Job Tickets inclusive of cross referencing, totaling, and checking for completeness; with follow up as appropriate.

·     Performs data entry, maintains file system, and completes research requests.

·     Monthly reporting for SSI earnings, statistical summaries, and other necessary reports.

·     Prepares vendor invoices for benefit deductions including but not limited to: life insurance, TSAs, United Way,  AFLAC, 401k, and pension loan payments.

·     Assists payroll manager as needed and maintains the payroll process in the absence of the payroll manager.

·     Assists with data entry in other Financial Management departments as necessary.

Associates Degree
Agency Investigator

You will be responsible for conducting investigations of alleged abuse, violations of rights and/or mistreatment of children and adults with intellectual disabilities. You may also be required to assist in the investigation of matters related to compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Document and investigate matters related to reportable significant incidents, serious notable occurrences, and minor notable occurrences.
  • Provide recommendations with regards to necessary corrective actions based on information defined within the investigative summary.
  • Identify and explain discrepancies between investigation source documents, interviews, and written statements.
  • Maintain all documents and records of the investigation in a complete, confidential, and organized manner.
  • Maintain an efficient working knowledge of OPWDD and the NYS Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs regulations and guidance regarding incident reporting procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree & two years’ of experience in a field of human services, criminal justice, social work or related field or Licensed Registered Nurse.
  • Knowledge and experience in §624 regulations, NYS Justice Center regulations, and Jonathan’s Law and experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
HR Technology Coordinator

In this position you are to work in conjunction with the Human Resources staff to ensure the efficient and smooth operation of the Human Resources data entry, data maintenance and reporting functions, following the ERR process and coordinating the data, staffing information, and Organizational Charts. Will also assist in the hiring process through the use of current technology. Requires considerable judgment to work independently toward general results. Able to handle difficult clerical work requiring an understanding of rules, procedures and policies. Must be proficient with the use of current technology and have the ability to quickly master various software applications and reporting functions. Must be flexible and skilled enough to accept and handle the varied and numerous personnel tasks of the Agency.

Responsibilities:
• Input and maintain all employee data, to include all Terms of Employment and Change Forms, into the Human Resources ATS database.
• Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, facilitate the Employee Requisition Request (ERR) process to include receiving and distribution the ERRs to the Staffing Committee.
• Coordinate ATS (ABRA) Employee data with the ERR data and Org Charts to ensure consistent staffing levels are represented in bi-weekly reports.
• Update and maintain Organizational Charts utilizing the ERR process, including bi-weekly distribution to Executive Management.
• Work as direct support to the Director of Human Resources, including monitoring & scheduling appointments as requested and maintaining the Director’s filing.
• Generate weekly, monthly and quarterly reports and distribute them to the designated personnel.
• Work in conjunction with the HR Generalist to create and maintain written processes for HR functions, to include, but not limited to, data entry in ABRA, CBC Procedure, Applicant Process, New Hire process, etc.

Prevocational Mentor

In this position you are responsible for engaging, coordinating, and monitoring productivity by providing training to the people we support at Chef’s Express, our newest addition to the Arc Oneida-Lewis Chapter. You must be able to communicate effectively with company personnel, families and other human service professionals.

Schedule is flexible to meet program/peoples needs. Including nights & weekends.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as an instructor to show how a task is to be completed

  • Observe, reinforce and report on prevocational work behaviors

Accounting Manager - Procurement

You will meet the goals and objectives for the procurement of goods and services for the agency. Perform and maintain the related accounting processes in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).  This position supervises the Purchasing/Inventory and Accounts Payable functions in the Financial Management department.

Responsibilities:

·     Researches and analyzes then implements and monitors by supervising aspects of  the procurement of  goods and services with objectives including cost control, developing and managing supplier relationships, negotiating best price/terms, reducing costs, fulfilling agency requirements, spending wisely while ensuring quality.

·     Monitors buying trends of the Agency and prepares and reports cost analysis comparisons.

·     Prepares and files government agency tax forms (i.e. Sales tax, abandoned property, fuel tax) in an accurate and timely manner.

Qualifications:

·     Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent education.

·     Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and leading a team.

·     Purchasing experience preferred.

·     Must possess advanced level Excel and financial reporting skills.

·     A working knowledge of Great Plains Accounting system and experience with inventory systems is preferred.

Agency Incident Review/ Quality Assurance Coordinator

You will assist in a wide range of critical support services to increase the effectiveness of Agency programs and personnel. Administers systems that encourage, enhance and demonstrate the quality of Agency services.  You will also serve as the centralized coordinator for Agency incident investigations ensuring oversight and compliance with OMRDD part 624 Reporting of Incidents and Abuse Allegations, MHLS Section 33.23 & 33.25 and OMRDD Memorandum of Understanding with Protective Services for Adults.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain knowledge of departmental certification surveys to be performed by regulatory bodies and perform interim programmatic quality assurance reviews as requested by the individual departments.
  • Serve as Agency liaison with outside law enforcement and Protective Services agencies.
  • Keep informed of legal and professional changes that may affect any Agency programs, by attending in services and seminars and other compliance procedures.
  • Maintain active involvement with the Agency Infection Control Committee to have knowledge of regulatory directives/changes in that area.

Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree or certification in the field of Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Education or Rehabilitation Counseling and at least five years of experience providing services in an OMRDD facility preferred.
  • (OR) Bachelor's degree in a related field with six years of experience in an OMRDD facility.
  • Teaching and supervisory experience is helpful.
College Works Career Instructor

You will work with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities in a college based program to provide vocational career instruction for students enrolled within the College Works Program at Mohawk Valley Community College, based in Rome, NY. Instruction may involve a combination of different teaching methods to accommodate the diverse learning styles of students.

Schedule is flexible to meet your students needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops individualized training as needed.
  • Teaches skill sets and monitors progress to evaluate the student’s knowledge and performance.
  • Assists the individual to work effectively with his/her ACCES-VR (Adult Career and Continuing Education Services-Vocational Rehabilitation) Counselor so that career goals can be achieved.
  • Develops a Career Plan for each individual in accordance with the individual’s goals and interests.
  • Designs lesson plans that will motivate and interest students.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field of education, human services, or related field and plus one year of work experience in vocational education as it relates to employment, or Associate’s degree with two years experience, or High School Diploma with five years experience.

CW Work Life Skills Instructor

You will be responsible to provide students with academic instruction, training and supervision to the extent required by their Individualized Service Plan (ISP). Responsibilities include development and implementation of college-based classroom instructions for work life skill development for students enrolled in the College-Works program at MVCC. This instruction, training and supervision will take place in whatever setting is deemed appropriate under the guidelines of the plan, which has been developed with the student

Flexible schedule but primarily Monday-Friday 8:30-4pm, could include a night/weekend event.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide college-based academic instruction in work life skills, community living and transitional employ-ability skills training.
  • Develop curriculum for work life skills training in conjunction with the Director of College-Works for students enrolled. Curriculum includes pre/post tests and vocational assessments.
  • Create weekly work life skills lesson plans that will coordinate with individual treatment plans.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of the student’s day habilitation and pre-vocation plans.

Employment Counselor

In this position you will be responsible for provision of employment supports to people with disabilities. Such services include clinical rehabilitation evaluations, assessments, and counseling as needed to assist people we support identify and meet their vocational goals. Also responsible for assisting with production demands including visiting off-sites such as Nickle Back redemption and heading structured rehabilitation on both the clinical and production side. May include, but not limited to, providing job skill training and shadowing as well as classroom-based instruction focusing on vocational preparation.

Monday through Friday, may include after hour meetings

Responsibilities:

  • Complete rehabilitation assessments and evaluations to assess people with varying disabilities to develop and implement an employment plan which will include strategies to overcome barriers to employment.
  • Complete employment, vocational, and pre-vocational plans on a semi-annual basis at ISP meetings.
  • Responsible for writing habilitation plans as well as obtaining and attaching clinician’s treatment plans.
  • Perform job development/retention activities as necessary to include, but not limited to, job readiness skills training and work/life skills training.

Employment Specialist II

You will be responsible for the provision of employment supports to people with developmental disabilities in the community to help them identify and meet their vocational needs, maximizing their independence and utilizing all of the resources in the community available to them.

Flexible Schedule to include nights & weekends

Responsibilities:

  • Teach individuals how to access community supports to assist them with childcare, travel training, residential living and securing/receiving supplemental benefits
  • Provide supports such as benefits advisor, case manager, service coordinator and life coach when needed to support the person and assist in gaining independence.
  • Responsible for Habilitation Plan and Employment Plan writing
  • Evaluate and/or monitor the occupational safety of the work-sites where the individuals are employed.

Qualifications:

  • Valid NYS Drivers license and must have a working vehicle and agree to transport individuals, as needed to work-sites.

Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of one year experience working with people with disabilities; or Associates Degree and a minimum of two years experience working with people with disabilities; or High School Diploma and a minimum of three years experience working with people with disabilities.

Prevocational Counselor

You will be responsible for provision of employment supports to people with  developmental/intellectual disabilities.  Services include clinical rehabilitation evaluations, assessments, and counseling as needed to assist people we support identify and meet their vocational goals.  May include but not limited to providing job skill training and shadowing as well as classroom based instruction focusing on vocational preparation. 

Schedule is flexible to meet caseloads needs, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete rehabilitation assessments and evaluations
  • Perform job development/ retention activities, as necessary, to include, but not limited to job readiness skills training, work/life skills training.
  • Act as an ambassador of The Arc Employment Solutions Department by attending job fairs as well as developing relationships with local employers in the community in order to develop and/or maintain employment opportunities for people we support.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services from an accredited institution of higher learning including two years experience working with people with disabilities. Or an Associate's Degree in Human Services from an accredited institution of higher learning including five years experience working with people with disabilities.

Service Liaison

You will be responsible for ensuring oversight for the integration and implementation of services to people with developmental disabilities.

Schedule is Monday – Friday 8:30 to 4pm. Oneida County

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring current and completed Individualized Service Plan’s (ISP)
  • Support the people being served with living a life that includes self-determination, choices, and promotes attainment of personal outcomes.
  • Oversee Day Habilitation Plan to ensure consistency with ISP

Masters Degree
Speech Language Pathologist

You will provide intervention and evaluation of speech and language disorders to those children who are identified in need of speech therapy services.

Schedule is flexible to include nights/weekends.

Responsibilities:

  • Able to maintain the motivation and respect of the individuals supported and staff
  • Will need to travel to offsite locations to complete assessments
  • Complete and maintain all required documentation, both in electronic and paper format

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor medication safety, storage and administrations via AMAP personnel
  • Provide management of accidents and illnesses; making necessary referrals or recommendations to appropriate staff or others
  • Complete and maintain all required documentation, both in electronic and paper format
  • Provide professional and clinical nursing oversight of the LPNs and AMAP staff assigned to sites under your supervision. Provide directives on medical oversight to any Direct Support Professional

  • Assist Program RN in the management of illnesses and accidents.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Registered Nurse in overseeing the general health and routine medical management of all program residents on a daily basis to include basic therapeutic and preventative nursing procedures

 

  • Assists direct care staff with extraordinary comprehensive medical appointments, emergency room visits and hospital stays.

 

  • Assists with nursing assessments, summaries and medical records under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.

 

  • Provide guidance and instruction to staff and individuals on diet and nutrition.  Reviews menus for proper nutrition.

 

Qualifications:

  • Valid current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) within New York State
