After School Connections provides after school care that is fun, safe, and supportive for children with a variety of disabilities. Children with Developmental Disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), face unique challenges with social interactions. The After School Connections program is a social skills building group with strong staff support designed to promote children’s development of appropriate play skills. By participating in the play-based group, children will be introduced to and practice skills including: conversation skills, age-appropriate play skills, emotions, attending skills, waiting skills, coping with change, anger management and turn-taking.
A child must be Medicaid-waiver eligible to participate in the After School Connections program. The program is designed for children ages 5-12. Limited transportation is provided from school to the program for children in the Whitesboro School District. Families are responsible to provide transportation from the program home.
