Enhanced Residential Habilitation
Enhanced
Residential Habilitation provides individualized professional
consultation and therapy services for a child with developmental
disabilities and his or her family to address specific areas of need in
the home. These services are provided by professionals including a
Special Education Teacher, a Speech-Language Pathologist, a Physical
Therapist, and an Occupational Therapist whose main objective is to
provide the parent and child with the necessary resources including
materials, education, and support to address their specific areas of
functional need.
Children and their
families receive an individualized consultation from a licensed
therapist or teacher to address their specific needs at home. The
consultant will evaluate the child’s needs and consult with his or her
parent or caregiver about their concerns to determine the child’s
overall needs. Areas of concern may include, but are not limited to,
behaviors, communication, feeding, sensory integration, fine motor, or
gross motor difficulties. At times, a team approach between therapists
may be used; however, it is based on the child’s individual need.
Specific referrals for additional support services will also be made by
therapists as needed. Coordination of services with school program will
occur as necessary.
A child must be
Medicaid-waiver eligible to participate in the Enhanced Residential
Habilitation program. This service is available to those children, ages
3-21, with developmental disabilities who live in Oneida County.
