The Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapter, in conjunction with the City of Rome,
offers the Sensory Swim Program for children with special needs.
The program provides a wonderful sensory experience for children in an
aquatic environment, helping to improve their strength, balance, and
sensory awareness.
An adult accompanies each child into the water and brothers and
sisters are able to participate when they are accompanied by an
additional adult.
The Sensory Swim program is facilitated by a trained Occupational and/or
Physical Therapist. It runs for eight week sessions on Wednesday
evenings at the New York State School for the Deaf, 401 Turin Road in
Rome, NY. The cost is $25 per child for the eight week session. All
necessary aquatic safety equipment is provided.
Reservations are required. Please
