Social Skills Building Group

Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders face unique challenges with social interactions. Social Connection is a social skills building group for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.  The group is a six week structured program held at The Arc’s Therapy and Play Center and is open to children from all school districts. The group is run by a Special Education teacher and focuses on developing the necessary skills and understanding to promote individual social and emotional growth.

By participating in the Social-Skills building groups, children will be introduced to and practice skills needed to build and maintain social relationships.

Some skills addressed are:

Conversation skills
Age-appropriate play skills
Emotions
Attending skills
