Senior Job Coach
Senior Job Coaches are
specialists in job retention. Each Senior works with a caseload of 15-20
person who are employed at various worksites throughout the community. The
goal of Seniors is to help these persons keep their job.
This is accomplished by
regular site visits, usually once a week, or more often if the employee
needs training or re-training on a task. (A few employees are seen only off
site.) The Senior troubleshoots to solve problems before they threaten the
job, and offers advice and encouragement. The needs of each employee are
unique, and Seniors will serve each differently.
Seniors are also
ambassadors of The Arc with area employers, and assist supervisors in
communicating their needs to their employees.
Every six months, Seniors
review Employment Plans with their caseload, marking progress toward goals,
and setting new goals for the future.
The Arc currently employs
ten full-time Seniors. The position requires a four-year degree and a
dependable car (mileage is reimbursed). The position will expose staff to
the community’s support agencies, including Social Security. The work
schedule of the Senior is 35 hours per week, but may include early or late
hours, as well as some weekends, depending on the caseload.
