Services provided include Early Intervention (birth-3 years)* and Preschool Related Services (3-5 years). Highly trained and experienced clinicians complete evaluations to determine eligibility and the provision of services in the areas of Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapy and Special Education. Services are designed to address all areas of development including Cognitive, Communication, Adaptive, Social-Emotional and Motor development. Intervention is based on a natural approach with a focus on the child and family’s needs. Education and training are an integral part of all therapy services. Therapy services occur in a community or home setting or in The Arc’s Therapy and Play Center at 241 Genesee Street, Utica, NY 13501. Therapy services are also available through private payment. The Early Intervention program serves children in Oneida and Herkimer Counties and the Preschool Related Services program services children throughout the region.

*The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is a public program for children under the age of three who are either suspected of having, or at risk for, developmental delays or disabilities. Potentially eligible children must be referred to the county program (Oneida County, 315-798-5249) to receive EIP services. EIP is funded by a New York State and county governments. All EIP services are provided at no cost to parents. Health insurance may be used for approved services. A child’s eligibility for the program can be determined only by state-approved evaluators under contract and all services must be authorized by the county.
