Early Intervention

Early Intervention and Preschool services consist of home and community-based Occupational, Physical, Speech Therapy and Special Education evaluations and treatment for children from birth to 5 years of age with developmental and physical disabilities and neurological disorders.

Services are offered through Oneida County Early Intervention* (birth to 3 years of age) and Preschool Related Service (3 to 5 years of age) programs.

Occupational Therapy services address fine motor coordination, visual-perceptual development, and sensory processing skills to promote independence in daily activities (feeding, dressing, handwriting, cutting, etc.).

Physical Therapy services emphasize the development of gross motor skills (walking, running, jumping, skipping, stair skills, ball skills, etc.) and increasing balance, strength, and endurance. Issues with muscle tone are also addressed, as indicated.

Speech Therapy services focus on developing language, cognition (i.e., attention, memory), articulation, voice, and fluency to promote functional communication skills.
