The Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapter, is a human service organization that has been a leader in services for people with developmental disabilities since 1954. The Agency was founded by a group of parents who envisioned a rich, full life for their children with disabilities inclusive in the community. Today, The Arc Oneida-Lewis Chapter is one of 49 chapters of The Arc New York statewide organization.

The Arc provides a full spectrum of educational, vocational, residential, family support, guardianship, respite care, recreational rehabilitation, day habilitation, clinical, senior and children’s services to people with developmental disabilities and their families.

Our Agency is staffed by over 700 professionals and serves over 1,400 people throughout Oneida and Lewis Counties.

Our Mission is to enable persons with disabilities and their families to achieve their potential through self-determined goals in partnership with the Agency. We will provide leadership in our community to develop the necessary human and financial resources to fulfill this mission.

Our Core Values
Our Core Values reflect our work at The Arc, the foundation of our culture and the backdrop of our everyday interactions. It is important that we have this set of values to guide and unify us in the important work that we do.

Our Core Values also highlight the important elements of how we each perform our specialized functions. The Core Values are now incorporated into the orientation and training of all new employees. By supporting our Core Values, we all contribute to a culture of positivity, stability and vision necessary for the Arc to survive and thrive in the years to come.

A message from Karen Korotzer, our CEO

2018 was a year that showed our continuing strength of being innovative while creating incredible opportunities for the people we support and our community.

Starting in August, we opened our Get it and Go Deli in Lowville that provided more opportunities to employ people we support within the community. The deli is our second Arc-owned business and joins our Nickelback Redemption Center in Waterville as our business enterprise keeps growing!

Furthermore, in 2018 we created the Business Enterprises team at the Arc that works to create more business opportunities and partnerships such as the deli and our growing assembly/packaging business across our facilities under Progress Industries.

While we strengthened our business opportunities, we also achieved our second 4-year accreditation through the Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL). During the week-long accreditation process and with members of our community, board, employees, and people we support, we showcased our achievements and created new pathways towards furthering our quality and leadership excellence in our agency and our community. We are proud of all we have accomplished together. We are proud of the work we do to support people with disabilities in our community and the partnerships we have formed.

We are proud of being so connected to our community through every part of our agency. Whether it is participating in America’s Greatest Heart Run and Walk, volunteering at the Boilermaker, or sending staff through Leadership Mohawk Valley, we are thrilled to be a long-standing member of our community.

Another successful year behind us and so much growth and innovation ahead of us. We are grateful to our staff, community, and partners who have helped us make 2018 another great and successful year for The Arc, Oneida-Lewis.

We look forward to more achievements and successes!
