Grabbing a Hold of Their Future
Nearly 400 students with and without disabilities from local school districts explored career opportunities at our School to Work programs' Career Day event at the Oneida County Department of Public Works. Several businesses, vendors, organizations, and colleges were on hand to provide students with a hands-on look at potential career paths. Special thanks to Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. and his team for providing the space and touring the event. The day was a tremendous success for all involved.
"This gives them all the chance to see opportunities they might not have even thought of before," said Laurel Hartman, Department Manager of School to Work. "There's nothing worse than spending the time and the money going to college, only to find out afterward that there are no jobs available, or you really don't like the job. Career Day shows them alternatives."
